And you thought, fishing from a boat or beach gets the fishing adrenalin going, try jetty fishing. It is good exercise and dangerous. Photo below appears to a jetty that has been repaired. The jetties back in the 50's were solid concrete with granite boulders along the sides. The danger was slipping on the algae or slime. But the most dangerous part was at the end of jetty in the gulf. My Dad and Grandfather were the only ones in the family that would venture to the end of the jetty with the full knowledge that one good wave coming in could know them both into the water and pull under the granite rocks. I only ventured halfway until my sneakers started sliding on the slime.
I shall end here to let others out there tell their stories, if they have ever been jetty fishing.

I have seen some jetties that I would absolutely not climb. Several years ago I watched as two guys climbed out trying to fish the south jetty at Winyah Bay in Georgetown, SC. They did not get out very far before the rising tide stranded them about 1/4 mile off the beach and they had to be rescued by a boat. Had they not been picked up by the boat they would have surely been washed into the water where currents are much stronger than anyone could swim against.
